Obama in a moving speech said he hopes these new measures which include, stronger background checks, better enforcement of gun safety laws, more support for mentally ill citizens and improving technology that will make it difficult for guns to be stolen and others will stem the tragedies caused by mass shooting in America and not rob citizens of their Second Amendment rights.
Pretty much throughout the speech, President Obama held it together, but while mentioning recent incidents where mainly minority groups have been targeted and killed, President Obama broke down when talking about the Sandy Hook shooting.
Obama said, "Every time I think about those kids, it gets me mad".
